We routinely do in-line corona treating of webs(roll goods) in
printing, coating and laminating processes to improve adhesion.
Corona treating modifies the surface energy (dyne level).
Corona is ionized air created by discharging high frequency high
voltage energy across a metal or insulated electrode. The electrode
is positioned over a grounded roll, and the air gap or space
between the electrode and the roll is where corona is created.
Substrates pass through this gap to receive corona treatment.
Many films are surface treated during the extrusion or
manufacturing process however, many need to be subsequently
"re-treated" prior to printing or laminating. Light Fab has the
ability to corona treat films such as polyethylene, LDPE, HDPE,
BOPP and more on one or two sides, up to 18" wide.
